Why these test? Diabetes and co-morbidities like high blood pressure may be controlled and even prevented with early intervention. There are 79 million Americans at risk for diabetes (known as pre-diabetes). Within 5 years, more than half of these folks will have full blown diabetes.

The Center for African-American Health believes the health care law benefits many people in our community, especially those who are uninsured, underinsured and living with pre-existing conditions.

Center Screens 120 Men for Prostate Cancer

The Center for African-American Health provided free prostate cancer screenings for 120 men at its annual event held this year on Sat., Sept. 17. African-American men are twice as likely to be diagnosed with prostate cancer, but if detected early, there's a much better chance of successful treatment.
